Years catching up to me, Vision's faded, Self deprecated, Laugh lines telling fables of days I was elated, Indistinguishable from lies I've created, Visions of gold, copper plated, Wafting incense surrounds me, breath bated, From thine own self berated, Heart beats of memories faded, syncopated, Lines of rhymes refined, now jaded, Signs of times were mine, given now taken

Am I the same thing? Or an animal of new breed? Is this the new me? Something never seen? A rose colored version of the old me? Self placated and adorned with misery? Unsatiated hunger mimicking me? Unsubstantiated colloquialism attacking me? Hacking at me? Pretending to be the new me? Showing me things I don't deserve to see? Am I just a plagiarized memory?
