AI is changing so much for creators! It's changing the music industry as well. The distribution platforms are pushing AI and big labels are buying their way into it too. The big labels are buying those distribution channels which means their artists, robots or otherwise, are going to get preferential treatment. We're getting kicked around for sport and I think it's ridiculous!
What I would like to do, which is very limiting exposure wise, is start selling direct to consumer. I need to get a website that I control, start publishing my poetry books and short stories there, publish my music. YouTube is probably still best for videos, so I'll use that.
I want to get away from this subscription model that is applied to everything there is. I don't want my content to be so loaded with ads that you can't read a whole sentence without pop up ads. I need advertising money of course, but I think brand placement and making any commercials part of the videos so the experience is seamless will be necessary. Maybe charging a fee for someone to post their creations on my site would make more sense.
With all the pop ups, you only make money if they get clicked on, same with affiliate marketing, so these companies get the benefits of their ads being seen and slowing down your site, but they dont have to pay unless they get a click or a sale. I think my way will be more beneficial for everyone and the creators that pay a small fee will benefit every time someone visits my site as I will be constantly promoting it.
Hopefully, I will make enough money eventually to pay for boosting posts, even there, I'm sure I can find creators I could pay instead and get my website promoted that way. I think it will find more actual users that are in my demographic that way.
Everything is changing! I need to adapt.
I have a couple major hurdles I need to jump first.
1)get a new website,
2)get my own place so I my creativity is no longer stifled and I'll have the room to record my music.
3) find people to collaborate with and people that want to buy features on my site, which will mean there will be no subscription fee for people to view the content that's up.
Once I've jumped these hurdles, my books and stories will be published regularly, as will my music and any collaborations I can conjure up. And people still love contests and winning stuff, I would love to implement contests and prizes for things once I'm financially solvent.
